Nasarawa State Govt to Establish Media Village for Journalists

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule said his administration will establish a Media Village for practicing Journalists in the State.

Governor Sule disclosed this on Friday, while responding to some demands of the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr Chris Isiguzo, who led officials of NUJ, Zone D on a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Lafia.
Sule who explained that the state has vast land mass for developmental purposes, said the request by the NUJ National President on the need for Media Village in the state is a good development, adding that such would add value as well as address the Housing need of Media Professionals in the State.
The Governor who directed the NUJ Leadership at both the Zone and National to lias with the State Commissioner of information and the Ministry of Lands to work out plans for the realization of the dream, thanked the Union for the choice of Nasarawa state for its meeting and intention to bestow on him an award.
Governor Sule who promised to create the conducive atmosphere for Journalists to discharge their constitutional responsibilities in the state, tasked media Practitioners in the state to always carry out their duties in avoidance with the ethics of the Profession.
In his speech, National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Mr Chris Isiguzo, said the Union is concern about the dare need of Media Village for Journalists across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.
This according to him would go a long way in addressing the accommodation problems of Journalists.
He appealed to the state Governor for some hectares of land with C of O for the project.
He commended the state governor for his developmental strides and the fight against COVID 19 and insecurity.
Earlier, National Vice President of the Union, Zone D, Chief Wilson Bako said the NUJ officials are in the state for their quarterly meeting.
According to him the governor would be giving an award ‘Champion of Continuity in governance’ due to his achievements.
He commended the governor for his good relationship with Media practitioners in the state.
