The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj.-Gen. Jamilu Sarham, on Tuesday, donated a mobile field kitchen to the Special Army Super Camp 4, Faskari, Katsina State, to support ongoing anti-banditry operations.
The facility can be used to cook for 400 people in three hours and also serve as bakery.
Sarham, while handing over the equipment to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, said the donation was part of the Academy’s contributions to the war against banditry in the North-West.
He explained that the mobile field kitchen was configured and retrofitted on a Toyota Buffalo at the NDA Mechatronics Department.
Sarham added that it was designed to support Army operations as part of the NDA research and development efforts.
“It incorporates 2×120 litres cooking pot, 160 litres hot water thermo dispenser, 100 litres deep water and 20kg gas powered oven. Other features are 7.5kg solar powered mixer and two KVA onboard solar inverter unit among others with multiple interior and exterior lights”.
The Chief of Army Staff, while receiving the equipment, commended the Academy for the innovation, and placed order to provide two to each of the three other super camps in North East and North Central.
