Members of 37 Regular Course of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Friday, formally handed over a newly constructed Squash Court and a horse to the military academy, as part of activities to commemorate its 35th anniversary.
The Chairman of 37 Regular Course participants, Rear Admiral Barabutemegha Gbassa, said while handing over the facility and horse to NDA Commandant, that the donation was to improve sporting activities at the Academy.
Gbassa explained that the course members agreed to provide a facility for the Academy that will be enduring.
In his remarks, the NDA Commandant, Major-General Jamil Sarham, thanked members of the 37 Regular Course for the donation and assured that the squash court and horse would be put to good use.
Sarham reiterated NDA’s commitment towards ensuring that it produces quality officers for the Armed Forces.
He said discipline remains a key component in deciding who is fit for a presidential commission and service in the Armed Forces.
“NDA is guided by established rules and regulations and any cadet who contravenes these regulations must be faced with appropriate sanctions, as prescribed by the laws”.
He added that under his watch no one will be allowed to interfere with the training of cadets.
“This is to ensure that the highest quality of training is attained, so that graduates of the Academy can be of the greatest value to their commanders in the field”.
