A man who claimed to be a Nollywood actor has been arrested by the police in Delta State for allegedly being in possession of five assorted rifles and two toy guns.
Mike Omoruyi, aged 38, was reportedly picked up at Odor Street, Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state by police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, RRS.
The police said Omoruyi was arrested by RRS operatives on patrol along Obiaruku-Umuebi road and upon a search, allegedly recovered a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle without magazine, one LAR rifle and one A/R rifle from him.
Also allegedly recovered from him at about 12.30pm on Tuesday, June 15, were one pump action rifle, one English double barrel gun and two toy guns.
Sources at the state police command headquarters in Asaba, the state capital, told Scudnews that following his arrest and interrogation, Omoruyi claimed to be a Nollywood actor https://scudnewsng.com and said he hired the weapons for film production.
He reportedly led detectives to Umuebu, a community also in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state, where he pointed at a 57-year-old man identified as Chief Otuya Josiah, as the supplier of the arms.
Confirming the development, a senior police officer who craved anonymity said Josiah had admitted renting the arms to Omoruyi for film production at a cost of N50, 000.
He said two other suspects, Ogbuta Ozor and Alex Okoloma, aged 26 and 23 respectively, were also arrested at Obiaruku in connection with the case as investigators probed deeper.
