Pastor of a Pentecostal church, United Evangelical Church (UVC), Michael Bassey, is singing like a canary in police custody after he was allegedly caught with a human skull.
45-year-old Bassey is telling the police how he got the human skull which he tied with a man’s photograph and a carved human image wrapped in red clothes.
Sikiru Akande, the Cross Rivers State Commissioner of Police, told newsmen on Tuesday in Calabar, the state capital, that the pastor was arrested based on a complaint.
He said Bassey was arrested at No. 56 Uwanse by Asuquo Ekpo Street in Calabar South, and would be arraigned on completion of investigation.https://scudnewsng.com
“The suspect was arrested with one human skull tied with the complainant’s picture and carved human image with red clothes. Investigation is still ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned in court,” Sikiru assured.
However, Bassey has denied involvement in occultism. Rather, he said he had been conducting healing services for members of his congregation before his arrest.
“I don’t know anything about this human skull. I am innocent of the charges against me,” he says.
Also in police net is a 34-year-old man, Christian Edem-Eyo, arrested by the police for allegedly killing and beheading one Uduak Okpo, 65, and buried her head and the body separately on June 6.
While Bassey denies involvement in his alleged crime, Edem-Eyo, admitted committing murder.
“I killed Uduak Okpo because she belonged to the marine world. She was terrorizing me spiritually in the compound,” he claimed.
The duo was paraded alongside 24 other suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in various crimes.
