A gang of armed robbers reportedly attacked an Automated Teller Machine, ATM, located at the entrance of Ifelodun Microfinance Bank in Ikirun, Osun State, at about 3.am on Tuesday, November 30.
The robbers were said to have carted away about N4.6million from the ATM machine before a team of policemen led by the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO, DSP Gbadamosi Jelili arrived the scene and engaged them in a gun duel.
Jelili was said to have been shot in the ear in the encounter and was rushed to Araromi Hospita, a private health facility in Ikirun.
The police said detectives were on the trail of the fleeing robbers some of whom were said to have escaped with bullet wounds.
