An investigative panel comprising the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Director of the Department of State Service, DSS and Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has been constituted by Governor Seyi Makinde to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the recent devastating explosion in Ibadan, the state capital in which several lives were lost and properties damaged.
Other members of the panel included officials of the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals and a regional security outfit popularly known as Amotekun Corps, among others.
The panel commenced work on Friday, January 19 with a visit to the scene of incident at about 10.30am.
President Bola Tinubu had directed a thorough investigation into the blast towards ensuring that all those responsible were reined in.
39 vehicles were burnt while about 60 houses were destroyed in the explosion which has so far claimed five lives.
