After not being seen in his neighbourhood for four years, the skeleton of a man supposedly missing was found on his bed at his home on Sunday, September 4.
Perplexed members of his community in Apete, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State had been at a loss on the whereabouts of Mr. Aderemi John Abiola, neither was there any sign of an untoward development at his residence over the years.
Four years after his ‘disappearance’, some labourers hired to clear bushes on vacant lands and uninhabited buildings in the community made a stunning discovery of his skeleton on his bed.
It could not be ascertained if Abiola had been sick or lived alone in the house when he was last seen, but he apparently kept to himself and neighbours were unsure if he died at home unnoticed since he had been out of circulation for four years.
At about 1.30pm on Sunday, September 4, his skeleton was sighted on his bed through a window in his bedroom by labourers clearing the bushes around his house at No 6, Ologuneru Area, Idi-Orogbo, Apete in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State who alerted the community’s leadership.
Olufemi Omolara, chairman of the Idi-Orogbo Adeosun Liforte Landlords Association reported the strange find to the police at Apete Division on Monday.
A source told Scudnews that the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO promptly led a team to the scene and met the door locked from behind.
It was further learnt that when the police team eventually forced the door open, a laptop, two mobile phones and two Drivers Licenses were found on the floor in the bedroom.
The police said a probe on the incident has commenced and efforts were ongoing to contact members of Abiola’s family for a proper burial.
