Suspended Nasarawa LG Chairman, Deputy Begs for Pardon

suspended Chairman, Nasarawa Local Government Council, Mohammed Sani Owto and the deputy Chairman, Karu Local Government Area, Lawal Mohammed Karshi, have appealed to the state Assembly for pardon and promised not to repeat committing such offence.

The two Councils Officials made the plea on Wednesday, when they appeared before a committee set up by the Assembly to probe the allegations leveled against them which bothered on insubordination and their level of involvement during the recent High Court seating in a case between the sacked Secretary to the state Government, Ahmed Tijani Aliyu and Nasarawa state government as well as the state House of Assembly at Akwanga on August 7,2020.
The suspended Officials who pleaded guilty to the offence, said it was a mistake on their part, to have attended the court seating.
According to them it was a mistake for them to have attended the seating, adding that their action was not aimed at undermining the integrity of the Lawmakers and the state Government.
 The Council Officials who begged for forgiveness, promised to remain loyal to the Assembly as well as the state government.
 In his remarks after hearing from the suspended Officials, Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Peter Akwe, said the Committee was given the mandate to hear from them and submit her report to the House, adding that it will do as directed by the House Speaker, Honourable Ibrahim Balarebe Abdullahi.
 It would be recalled that the Lawmakers during an emergency seating on August 10,2020 placed a three Months suspension on the two Officials for insubordination.
