Tinubu Condoles With Iran Over Death of President Raisi

President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the demise of President Ebrahim Raisi; Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials in a helicopter crash.

Tinubu expressed profound grief over the tragedy, describing President Raisi as a leader who was passionately committed to the development of Iran.

While commiserating with the bereaved families, Tinubu prayed for the continuous peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation.

A statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, said on behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, President Tinubu assured the Islamic Republic of Nigeria’s support and prayers in this moment of grief.

Iran’s President Raisi died in a helicopter crash in which his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also killed in Sunday’s crash, along with several others

The helicopter, which was among three travelling in a convoy, crashed in heavy fog in the northern region of the country.

Raisi was travelling to the city of Tabriz, north-west of Iran on the Azerbaijan border when the tragic incident occurred.

Iranian authorities say one victim, an imam, survived for an hour and made distress calls for help.
