Usman Baba Is New IGP

President Muhammed Buhari has approved the appointment of Usman Alkali Baba as Acting Inspector General of Police.

Baba was until his elevation, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID). He was also a one-time Force Secretary.

Born on March 1, 1963,  he hails from Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, and enlisted into the police on March 15, 1988.

Baba, a Fellow of the National Defence College, fdc, is statutorily scheduled to retire from service on March 1, 2023.
