Vacate Your Offices Latest March 5, Obaseki Orders Edo Local Council Chairmen

Ahead of the expiration of their tenures in office, Edo State governor, Godwin Obadeki, has directed all chairpersons in the18 local government councils in the state to ensure they vacate their offices not later than Friday, March 5.

In the meantime, he has also asked them to handover the administration of their councils to their respective Heads of Administration.

The directives were contained in a memo issued by the state Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, dated March 2, with reference number: FMLC.170/vol.111/646, following the expiration of the council chairmen who were inaugurated on March 5, 2018.

The memo which was signed by the permanent secretary, M.E. Jos-Bazuaye, indicated that the directive also affected councilors and other political appointees of the local councils.

“I am directed to refer to the above subject and to request all Local Government Council chairmen are to hand over the administration of the 18 Local Government Councils in the various Local Governments latest by Friday, March 5, 2021,” part of the memo read.
