The Department of State Services (DSS) said on Thursday, that Saidu Afaka, President Muhammadu Buhari’s official driver who reportedly died on Tuesday, April 6 at the State House Clinic, was never arrested, detained or tortured by the Service before his demise.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, spokesperson for the DSS, said in a statement in Abuja that reports in a section of the media that the department tortured the late Master Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Army to death was misleading.
He said the driver was never arrested nor detained by the Service, which he noted, operates a suspect handling method in compliance with the tenets of criminal justice administration system and democracy.
Afunanya urged members of the public to disregard the news.
