Yuletide: Sen Akwashiki disburses N30m to Widows, Orphans in Nasarawa

Senator Godiya Akwashiki (APC- Nasarawa North) on Saturday disbursed the sum of N30 million to 3,000 widows, orphans and the less privileged in his senatorial district.

Akwashiki while disbursing the money to his constituents in Nassarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Wamba Local Government Areas, said each of the beneficiaries would get N10,000 cash to enable them to feed with their families during the Christmas and New year celebrations.

The lawmaker, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Employment, Labour and Productivity, said the gesture was part of his commitment to positively change the lives of widows, orphans and vulnerable in his constituency.

”Recently, I distributed empowerment tools worth millions of Naira to my people and today I am disbursing N10,000 each to you, the widows, orphans, physically challenged and the vulnerable in my senatorial district”.

Akwashiki urged those who were yet to benefit from his gesture to be patient, adding that better days were ahead.

He pledged his commitment to providing more roads, hospitals and schools in the senatorial district in order to improve on the standard of living of the people.

The lawmaker further disclosed that he was constructing solar- powered boreholes across his senatorial district to provide portable water supply to the people.

He urged the people to continue to pray and give their maximum support to him to enable him succeed in the tasks ahead.

Speaking at the event, Alhaji Mohammed Muluku, member representing Nassarawa Eggon East constituency at the state Assembly and Mrs Mary Enwongulu, a former state lawmaker for the same constituency, both lauded the senator for the gesture.

They urged the people to continue to support Akwashiki to succeed as their representative in the senate.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ajegeku Angbashim, a widow, thanked the lawmaker for touching lives positively.

She prayed God to bless the lawmaker abundantly.
