5 Villagers Reported Killed, 6 Injured In Ill-Fated Helicopter Gunship Attack On Bandits’ Den In Kaduna

An air strike suspected to have been targeted at bandits’ enclaves around Kasayi Village in Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State on Friday, November 26 allegedly killed five residents, it was learnt on Monday.

Six other residents including two female children, both aged five, were also injured, a local who witnessed the incident was said to have reported to the police.

Mr. Bitrus Sauri of Dagacin Gwagwada District in Chukun Local Government Area of Kaduna State reportedly lodged a complaint at the Toll Gate Divisional police headquarters that earlier on November 26, a suspected military helicopter dropped bombs around Kasayi Village, killing five residents.

Six others reportedly sustained varying degree of injuries.

He said two female children, Kuana Bala and Blessing Ishaya, both aged five, were among the injured. Others included three women and a male identified as Bala Madaki, Hanatu Bala, Talatu Maikarfi and Laraba Ishaya aged between 30 and 50.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to Barau Dikko Hospital for treatment.

Sauri said among those killed were two men, Sauri Goje and Zakariya Goje, both aged 60, and three women aged between 30 and 50, whose names were given as Lami Ayuba, Jummai Ishaya and Ladi Sauri.     

Authorities of the Nigerian Air Force in Kaduna could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of filing this report, just as several calls put across a mobile telephone number of Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, rang out without a response.
