AGF Donates Vehicles To Police, Vigilante In Kano, Says There’s Need For Wealthy Individuals To Support Govt

Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Alhaji Ahmad Idris, has donated operational vehicles to the Kano State Police Command and vigilante in the state to enhance community policing.

He said the gesture was propelled by the need for wealthy individuals to complement efforts by the government towards protecting lives and property.

“Security agents have a very clear mandate, but the security initiatives in terms of giving them information and enhancing their surveillance operations should come from us.

“This is because we are the ones living in the society, so there is the need for wealthy individuals to complement government efforts, by supporting them with operational facilities.

“That is what we are doing, and I want to use this opportunity to call on others to contribute in enhancing the operations of security agents in the society,” Idris said while handing over operational vehicles to the state commissioner of police, Mr. Samaila Shuaibu-Dikko.

Idris noted that the gesture would assist to boost the morale of police officers and the vigilante for effective service delivery, just as he said security business was a responsibility of all and sundry in the society.

 “We are doing it for ourselves. They are sacrificing their lives to give us comfort; we should do whatever we can to motivate them to deliver on their mandate”.

The AGF also pledged to fuel and service the vehicles for one year.

Earlier, CP Shuaibu-Dikko expressed appreciation to Idris for the gesture, noting that as the commercial nerve centre of North, Kano needed peace and stability for socio-economic activities to continue to thrive.

He urged the people to intensify efforts in encouraging security agents to deliver on their mandate effectively by supporting them with operational facilities assuring that the vehicles would be used for the purpose they were given.

Also speaking, commander of the vigilante, Imam Abdulkadir, thanked the AGF for the gesture.

He also assured of the judicious use of the vehicles.
