Blessing Asifuaku is a boisterous young woman resident in Enuagu Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. She is a mother of four lovely children, three female and a male; her source of joy and hope as she toiled daily to offer them her best.
Despite her undulating fortunes, she was optimistic of a stable and bountiful means of livelihood someday, when her children would have come of age and achieved their aspirations. Daily, she dreamt of a sweet, stress-free life in the near future, but all that evaporated in a flash on Thursday, August 6, when her world literally crashed.
She had gone out early in the day in search of resources to put food on the table for her children and returned home at about 4.15pm, hoping as usual, to be welcomed home with a warm embrace by her children. She got none.
Initially, she thought they could be playing nearby and called out their names one after the other. But there was no response from any of them as she repeatedly called the eldest, Chisom Asifuaku, aged 10; her sister, Chidinma Asifuaku, aged seven, and their four-year-old brother, Ugochukwu Asifuaku. Even her five-month-old child, Chimamanda, had disappeared, and there was no sign they were anywhere near their home or the community.
After a fruitless search, the distraught mother reported the strange incident to the police which has recorded it as a case of missing persons. In pain and agony, Blessing has become a wreck as she roams her mental landscape, wondering why cruel fate has chosen to berth in her home.
The police said detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Anambra State police command are cracking the nuts to puzzle out the circumstances behind the disappearance of her kids and had spread a web to rein in perpetrators of the crime.
For Blessing, that had yet to be a soothing balm for her pains as she prays fervently for a miracle; prayers for divine intervention to be reunited with her children.
