Bandits Kill 2 Policemen, Chinese In Benue, Abduct Others

Benue State Police Command, on Wednesday, confirmed the killing of two police officers posted to escort  Chinese expatriates at Symmetry Trading company  in Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
The command Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene who disclosed this this in a statement in Makurdi, said the bandits also killed one of the expatriates and Kidnapped two others.
She said the slain policemen who were security escorts to the expatriates, came under an attack of gunmen who laid ambush at the site under construction before their arrival.
The statement read in part, “on 7th April, 2021 at about 0730hrs a distress call was received from police officers posted to escort expatriates from the above named company in Ukum Local Government Area that, they came under an attack of gunmen who laid ambush at the site under construction before their arrival.  During an exchange of fire with the gunmen,  two policemen and one of the expatriate lost their lives while two of the expatriates were kidnapped”.
Anene said more police operatives have been deployed to the area to track the hoodlums and rescue those abducted.
