Bombing Kills 6 Including Pregnant Woman in Afghan Province

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A pregnant woman was among six civilians killed when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s western Ghor province, officials said on Friday.
The incident occurred in the western part of the provincial capital of Firozkoh, provincial police spokesman Abdul Maruf Ramesh said.
“It was the woman’s delivery time. They were on the way to the provincial hospital”.
Local officials blamed the Taliban militant group for the bombing.
Roadside bombing is the militant group’s weapon of choice.
Intended to target military convoys and government officials, in most cases the resulting casualties are civilian.
The UN has documented 1,282 civilian deaths in Afghanistan in the first half of 2020, with another 2,176 people wounded in the same period.
The total number of civilians killed in the country since 2009 has surpassed 100,000, the UN said at the end of 2019.
Amid the ongoing bloodshed, talks continue between an Afghan government-led team and Taliban representatives in the Qatari capital Doha, in a bid to resolve the conflict.
However, after more than month of discussions, there has not been any apparent breakthrough.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
