Customs in Arms Haul, Seize 73 Guns, 891 Ammunition in Kebbi

Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted 73 locally manufactured guns and 891 cartridges at Zamare waterside in Yauri, Kebbi State.

Joseph Attah, Public Relations Officer of the Service disclosed this on Monday in a statement in Abuja.

He said the arms and ammunition were concealed in a truck conveying locally produced rice, which was seized by officers of the Zone Federal Operation Unit (FOU) of the NCS who were on patrol along the waterside.

The Eagle-eyed operatives were said to have sniffed out the deadly weapons from beneath the bags of rice where they were allegedly concealed in sacks.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime, according to Attah, who said investigation was ongoing.
