In a moment of grief before murdering herself inside a staff toilet at Globus Bank, Ikorodu, Lagos State where she worked, Ms Amarachi Ugochukwu, prayed God to have mercy on her as she ended it all.
But that was after she had penned down her frustration with the economic situation in the country which had suffocated her to a point that nothing was working in her life.
She wrote, “Nothing is working in my life.
“My figures are cold.
“My brain is clogged up.
“The economy is getting harder.
“My decisions are wrong.
“My mind is messed up.
“The future doesn’t seem bright at all, o see extreme hardship I can’t bear the pain anymore.
“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Meme, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya.
“Dear Lord have mercy on me!”
Her suicide note was discovered inside the staff toilet in the office premises at about 1.pm on Monday, January 8, by her colleagues who also found body stone dead on the floor.
Ugochukwu, aged 32, a marketing staff of the bank had gulped a bottle of Sniper –a poisonous insecticide to terminate her life as she bade farewell to her siblings, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, and Ifunanya, as well as her parents in a diary.
The police in Lagos said an investigation has been launched into the incident which was reported by the manager of Globus Bank, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Mr. Robert Hosharma.
Her body has been taken to the morgue at Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy and preservation with the support of her family, according to the police.
