[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Gunmen have killed a Commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Board, Solomon Akeweje, and abducted the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, Pius Kolawole.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP William Aya, who confirmed the incident, said the commissioner and the local council boss were travelling in the same vehicle when they were attacked at Eruku, a border community between Kwara and Kogi states.
According to him, Akeweje and Kolawole were returning to Egbe from Kwara State when they were attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
The whereabouts of Kolawole, the abducted council chairman is unknown as at the time of this report while his abductors are yet to contact members of his family.
However, the driver of the vehicle survived the attack while Akeweje’s body was reportedly deposited at the morgue of ECWA Hospital, Egbe.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
