The desire of a female police officer attached to the Plateau State police command to seek pleasure out of her matrimonial home has reportedly consumed her life and stripped her children of motherly care.

W/Sergeant Mary Anzaku was said to have left her husband and children at home in Jos, the Plateau State capital, where she resides, on a trip to Akwanga, Nasarawa State on Saturday, May 15, to visit a “man friend” with whom she allegedly had a relationship three years ago while serving at Keffi, host community of the state university.

It was learnt that on the next day, May 16, Mary and her ‘man friend’ identified as Ezekiel Ubangar, a native of Angwan Eggon Keffi, had gone out frolicking and later went for lunch at Gwoza Restaurant in Akwanga, when the unexpected happened at about 12.30pm.

It turned out to be a journey of no return for the police woman, as she slumped and was certified dead at the Akwanga General Hospital where she was rushed to for medical help.

Scudnews further learnt that following her death, her “man friend”, Ubangar, evacuated her body and deposited it at the morgue of another medical facility -Ola Missionary Hospital, before notifying members of her family and allegedly absconded thereafter.

But a relative of the deceased, Barrister Malu Ali Maku, a resident of Bukan Sidi area in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, was said to have reported the incident to the police, and operatives were sent on the trail of Ubangar before he was eventually arrested at his residence.

Upon interrogation, the suspect allegedly told police detectives investigating the incident that Mary had been his long time friend while she was serving at Keffi over three years ago and had come on a visit from Plateau.

He further reportedly said though they had gone to the restaurant to have lunch, but she hadn’t taken anything before she slumped and was rushed to the hospital.

However, while Ubangar tells homicide detectives what he knows on the circumstances surrounding the female police officer’s sudden death, the curtain has closed for Mary.

Efforts made to reach either Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, or spokesperson for the police command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

But a senior police officer, who craved anonymity, confirmed the development. He said investigation is ongoing.
