A socio-political organisation, Integrated Good Leadership Initiative, has called for sensitisation and a structured campaign for the promotion of good leadership in the fight against corruption and other social vices in the country.

Mr Faruk Mohammed, the president of the group, made the call at a press conference to mark the kickoff of its programme entitled: “An Opinion Poll Campaign on Good Leadership Prospect” on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Mohammed said the group was a forum for the development and promotion of good leadership, administration, good governance, free and fair elections across the country as formidable weapons to check corruption.

He said it was common knowledge that good governance, culminating from quality leadership was fundamental to economic advancement and national prosperity adding that leadership-induced corruption was the major source of social vices.

He further said the menace was a threat and nightmare to the society with the attendant challenges of unemployment, poverty, infrastructural decay and general insecurity.

“We have come to a point to mobilise and form a formidable structure to promote good leadership; we have to restore good leadership to rekindle the hope of the common man in the country”.

Mohammed revealed that the body had mobilised its coordinators in various states to drive the concept.

He explained that the group had trained and instructed the coordinators to go into sensitisation with a view to changing the mindset of the people especially, the youth.

“We are launching a programme entitled ‘An Opinion Poll Campaign on Good Leadership Prospect’ as they say necessity is the mother of invention. Good leadership is a gold standard for development; the opinion poll is a designed platform for the collection of opinions or ideas to set a precedence for an effective leadership standard. It is to campaign for good leadership, to break gloomy silence and glamourisation of bad leadership, encourage and to improve the knowledge and understanding of good leadership, among others. We are calling on the leading lights that have influential opinions or ideas to contribute such to kindle interests in leadership”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
