An uncompleted building suspected to be used by ritualists for killing and dismemberment of bodies of their victims has been uncovered at Ilora community in Oyo State.
The school uniform of a yet-to-be identified child, human bones and other body parts were reportedly found in the building located on Oyo-Ilora road in Oyo West Local Government Area of the state.
An offensive odour which emitted from the uncompleted building was said to have attracted some residents of the community who thronged the scene to behold a shock find.
Perplexed residents were said to have promptly reported the discovery to the police at Ilora, who stormed the building and arrested some suspects.
A senior police officer at the headquarters of the state police command who craved anonymity confirmed the incident. He said police investigations will zero on the likely number of murdered victims as well as unmasking the sponsors of the suspected ritual killings.
“Yes, we are aware of the case and the Area Commander is expected to transfer the Case File and suspects in custody to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) before the end of this week. But I can assure you that we will get to be root of the crime”, he said.
Residents expressed conviction that the unholy acts by the perpetrators suspected to members of a syndicate had be on for a long time.
“Those living close to the site said they used to see a man riding a motorcycle to the place. They said the man used to work with a shovel in the building; they thought he was clearing debris, but did not know he was carrying out criminal activities there”, said a resident who does not want his name mentioned.
