One of the over 1, 800 inmates who escaped from the custodial centre of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) in Owerri, Imo State during an attack on the facility by hoodlums on Monday, April 5, has been arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State.
The escapee inmate identified as David Victor Ubong, was arrested following a report by residents of a suspicious looking person loitering in an area of Uyo, the state capital.
Upon interrogation, Ubong reportedly confessed to be among the inmates that escaped from the Owerri custodial centre during the recent attack, and narrated how he bolted to safety.
The police said he would be transferred to the Imo State police command headquarters in Owerri for further action.
