Man in Court for Allegedly Stealing Car Seat

An applicant, Kenne Isah, appeared in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja on Thursday for allegedly stealing car seats, valued at N300, 000.
The police charged the defendant, residing at Shagari Quarters in Zuba, Abuja for theft as the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told court that one Nwabueze Ndubuisi reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on October 6.
The prosecutor said when the complainant was away, someone went to his shop and stole his car seats, valued at N300, 000.
He told court that the defendant and his friend were seen sleeping on a foam kept with the missing seat.
The prosecutor said one Chisom Nwachukwu caught the defendant and one Emmanuel now at large, carrying one of the car seats and the foam.
He said during police investigation, the defendant could not give satisfactory account of himself but that all efforts made to recover the seat proved abortive.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge as the Judge, Alhaji Gambo Garba, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Garba ordered that the surety must present valid means of identification and adjourned the case until November 11 for trial.
