[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Alpha-Jet on counter-insurgency operations in the troubled Borno and neighbouring state, have reportedly disappeared from radar.
Boko Hara and ISWAP fighters have been locked in a sustained, fierce gunfight with the military in the North Eastern flank of the country.
The jet lost contact with radar in Borno, while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, said in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
He said the loss of radar contact occurred at about 5:08 pm on March 31, and the whereabouts of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss was still sketchy but would be relayed to the general public as soon as the situation is clear.
Gabkwet added that search and rescue efforts are ongoing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
