Mother Stabs 9-Year-Old Son To Death In Ekiti

A woman who stabbed her nine-year-old biological son to death has become a wreck in police custody less than 48 hours after she was arrested by the police for the crime.

Aged 41, the woman allegedly committed the murder at dawn with a white cake knife in her residence at Ilogun Street, Ora Ekiti, Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria, on Wednesday, November 16.

It was not clear if she inadvertently committed the act, but the woman identified as Mrs. Ruth Owolabi, reportedly stabbed her tween son, Michael Iyanu Owolabi, during a fight between the boy and his younger sibling, Blessing Owolabi, aged five.

Michael was said to have been stabbed by his mother on the left side of his chest at about 7.am on the ill-fated day and she was promptly picked up by the police at Ido-Ekiti divisional headquarters on receipt of a report on the incident.

Scudnews learnt that a team of detectives from the Ido- Ekiti Division who were drafted to the crime scene evacuated Michael’s body to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti mortuary for autopsy.

The knife used by the woman to kill her son had also been recovered as exhibit from the crime scene, according to the police.

Scudnews could however not ascertain the whereabouts of the deceased’s father as of the time of filing this report on Thursday, November 17.
