[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The gruesome murder of Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Ngugban, assistant parish priest of St. Paul Catholic Church, Aye-Twar village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State inside the Parish House, was a mindless act, Governor Samuel Ortom said on Wednesday.
The priest was killed on Tuesday by yet-to-be-identified assailants who, the governor assured, would be arrested and prosecuted.
“I reassure the people of Katsina-Ala and Sankera that the state government will not relent until those responsible for the killing and other attacks in the area are brought to justice”, Ortom said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.
While condemning the act, the governor wondered why a harmless priest would be a target of armed men.
He reaffirmed the resolve of his administration not to handover the state to criminals and urged Benue people to assist security operatives with timely and useful information.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
