It was a gory sight to behold and the police were momentarily unable to deploy their evacuation skills on arrival at the mystery crime scene.
On a bed in a residence within the precincts of Shagari Quarters in Kwali, a suburb of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, was the decomposing body of a woman found by a neighbour at about 9.30pm on Saturday, June 26.
The neighbour, simply identified as Mrs. Harin, had gone to a compound nearby to fetch water and discovered something strange.https://scudnewsng.com
The door to the apartment of Ms Ilouga Passion, aged 28, was unusually locked outside with a padlock, but the windows were all open.
It was a discovery that aroused Harin’s curiosity and an offensive smell which emitted from the house fired her adrenaline.
A peep through one of the windows resulted in a shock find. Ilouga lay stone dead, with maggots feasting on her decomposing head and body.
In a jiffy, residents massed as Harin raised the alarm, just as a neighbour, Dan Abu, promptly reported the incident at the divisional police headquarters in Kwali at about 10.30pm.
It turned out to be a mystery murder when police detectives visited the scene. The police discovered the deceased’s right eyeball forced out of the socket, and also found a deep hole which indicated of a bullet injury.
Yet, residents of the area heard no sound of a gunshot before the strange discovery clouded by uncertainties on when and how the crime was committed.
However, a source said homicide detectives were working on the suspicion that Ilouga, who hails from Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, might have been killed by a gunshot.
To be sure, the police suspicion has raised fears of a new dimension in murder cases and a silent killer in town, perhaps a vampire, as there was no mention of bloodstains on the slain woman’s bed.
In the meantime, detectives are puzzling over the circumstances surrounding the bizarre act trailed by a chain of questions, suspense and anxiety.
A resident told Scudnews that due to the state of her body, the police were unable to evacuate it to the General Hospital Kwali for medical examination and a doctor had to be detailed to the scene for the required certification process.
The police said Ilouga’s neighbours had contacted her family and efforts were on for a quick burial due to the decomposing state of the body even as investigation continued.
