…Eulogizes Wike As South-South Leader

Following the vote of confidence passed on him over the weekend by stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State yesterday approved the harmonization of the party executives to pave way for a lasting peace, thereby setting the motion in place to name his cabinet any moment from now.
Reassuring him of utmost support, the PDP leadership similarly agreed to integrate the new members who joined the party with the governor from the All Progressives Congress, APC, into the state exco.
The fate of the 14 APC legislators hanging in the balance for the past one year have also been sealed with the governor yesterday assuring PDP stakeholders and quoted as saying that “the law must take its full course for posterity sake”.
According to a source, the governor has been under pressure to soft pedal on the 14 APC legislators and grant them opportunity to join their colleagues at the legislative chambers.
Obaseki, who pledged loyalty to the Governor Nyesom Wike-led leadership of the PDP in the South-South region, the source added, named Anslem Ojezua as his preferred candidate for the position of the PDP Chairman in Edo State, a move seen as reward for his support to the governor throughout his electioneering period last year when he battled the Adams Oshiomhole-ed APC.
With this development, the governor is set to name his cabinet which will include the current Chairman of PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi as his new Chief of Staff. Other positions to be filled with the new members from APC who joined PDP with the governor include, the State Publicity Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Women Leader, among others.
The current publicity secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare and others who will be relieved of their membership of the state PDP exco, are listed for the new cabinet of Governor Obaseki, an indication that the governor was set to take full control of the party in the state.
Obaseki who won election last year during the September governorship election and was sworn-in for a second term in November, has refused to name his cabinet owing to the crisis loomed in the party.
The crisis was however finally resolved during the weekend with the harmonization of the new members who joined PDP along with him during the governorship election.
