Senators from Ogun State: Ibikunle Amosun, Tolu Odebiyi and Bode Mustapha, were on Tuesday night conspicuously absent at a meeting of South West Governors with federal lawmakers from the Senate and House of Representatives.

The meeting was called for the South West political leaders to take a joint position on the review of the 1999 Constitution.

The absence of Amosun, Odebiyi and Mustapha was despite the presence of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the meeting.

The six South West Governors were present at the meeting.

Olamilekan joined the Ogun State caucus for the meeting.

Since Abiodun emerged governors over two years ago, he has tried to consolidate his hold on power by seeking the support of two former Governors, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Daniel recently joined the All-Progressives Congress as a result of his relationship with Abiodun.https://scudnewsng.com

Amosun, a former Governor of Ogun State, who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District, is believed to have been capitalising on his cordial relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari and some members of his kitchen cabinet to remain relevant in Ogun State politics.

Curiously, the trio of Daniel, Amosun and Abiodun were close friends.

Their friendship was so tight that Amosun and Abiodun rallied around Daniel to become governor in 2003.

After he served his tenure of two terms, Amosun took over.

But while his administration lasted, he and Daniel fell apart.

Their sharp differences came to the open when the state government under Amosun levelled allegations of corruption against the Daniel administration.

In the process, Daniel had one of his properties confiscated.

Abiodun just had the hotel, located in Abeokuta, the state capital, returned to Daniel.

Millions of Naira was injected into the hotel, with several staff already employed when Amosun struck.
