After a horrible sojourn to a den of kidnappers, Hafsat Anka, who was among the Zamfara schoolgirls recently released from captivity, said the bandits had threatened to butcher and used them as barbecues for meal.
“They threatened to kill, fry and eat us if we misbehaved”, she recounts, saying it they went on a long journey on foot after they were captured in her school, and only had a stopover for some hours before they reached their destination.
“There was no clean water or good food, and we felt we had already spent years even though it was our first day and the bandits kept firing into the air to scare us.
They were very young boys with one elder they called Kasalle or Yaya, who gave them instructions. He was the one that stopped them from touching any of us”.
She said the bandits wore military uniforms and claimed to have defeated the security forces with their invasion of her school and successful abduction of a huge number of students.
Hafsat is happy to return home unhurt, but says she ceases to be a boarding student. Rather, she would attend the school from her home.
