The Police Service Commission (PSC), on Wednesday, pledged to partner with the SERVICOM Office of the Federation to sanitise its operations.

Ikechukwu Ani, SERVICOM’s Head, Press and Public Relations, who said this in a statement in Lagos, on Wednesday, added that the decision was reached when the agency paid an advocacy to the commission and for the inauguration of its Inter-Ministerial Committee.

Chairman of the Commission, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police, said the SERVICOM office had contributed immensely to bringing sanity in the ways and means government business was being conducted in Nigeria.

He said the commission would continue to leverage on the commitment of the agency to the improvement of service delivery in the public sector.

“This will ensure that services in the commission are citizen friendly and in line with established rules and regulations.”

At the inauguration of the PSC inter-ministerial committee, the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the commission, Abubakar Ismaili, said he was aware that today’s civil service had reached its lowest ebb.

“It is described as corrupt, nonchalant and undisciplined”.

He, however, charged the newly inaugurated members of the inter-ministerial committee to work to change the narrative through hard work, creativity and transparency.

He urged them to be honest, hardworking and loyal public servants “in order to change the general perception of the Civil Service out there”.

Ismaili said there was hope that the ministerial committee, with the necessary support from management, would meet expectations and deliver optimally on its onerous mandate.

Also speaking, the National Coordinator/Chief Executive officer of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, said the success of the service delivery initiative in the commission rested on the shoulders of its leadership.

The national coordinator said the commission’s management should provide the needed resources to enable the inter-ministerial committee to function effectively.

She noted that the commission had crucial roles to play in determining the success or failure of the Nigeria Police Force, adding that these roles required that the commission should be citizen-focused.

This, he said, was in the formulation of policies and guidelines, as well as in the recruitment, promotion and discipline of personnel of the Nigeria police force.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
