Mr Agunbiade Oluyemi-Lasore, Commissioner of Police (CP) in Kebbi State, has decried the rate of death through motorcycle in the state and called on riders to exercise caution while carrying passengers.
This was contained in a statement by DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
“I implore motorcycle riders to always admonish their passengers on how to arrange their clothes while sitting on motorcycles”.
The commissioner advised people to desist from allowing their veils, garments or any other fabric from hooking in the wheel of motorcycles which could lead to accident.
“A case at hand is a man, who conveyed his two wives and a child along Zauro-Birnin Kebbi road on Saturday, 9th of Aug, 2020. While on transit, their flying garment hooked into the wheel of the motorcycle. As a result, they fell down and an oncoming vehicle ran over them, killing three of them. It is important to note that motorcycles are not meant to convey more than a passenger. Therefore, all motorcycle riders are hereby advised to convey only one passenger for them to be able to effectively control their motorcycles”.
