A daring robbery gang breached the security at the Iraqi Embassy in Abuja, the nation’s capital city during a raid on Saturday, August 20, it was learnt on Tuesday.
The robbers reportedly invaded the Embassy through a perimeter fence behind it by Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Way in the Central Business District of Abuja to wreck havoc on the ill-fated weekend.
Scudnews could not ascertain the response of the security men on ground –if any, or the exact time the robbers struck, but it was reliably gathered that seven units of air conditioners and other items were carted away by the men of the underworld.
The incident was reported to the police at CPS Division of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT police command by a staff of the Embassy, Mr. Saleh Mohammed, at about 12pm on Monday, August 22, Scudnews further learnt.
Reports indicated that the identities of the invaders had yet to be ascertained as they disappeared under the cover of darkness except for footage in the Close Circuit Television, CCTV mounted in the premises which showed how the robbers gained access.
The police said no arrest had been made in connection with the crime but investigation is ongoing.
