Fresh facts have emerged that Ms. Kulu Dogonyaro, one of the two women arrested by the police on April 27 in Abuja, over the alleged trafficking of five children including four toddlers and a two weeks old baby is indeed, a serving senior police officer.

Josephine Adeh, a Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT police command, had in a statement on Thursday, May 2, announced the arrest of two female suspects including Elizabeth Ojah and Dongoyaro for the alleged crime.

“The operatives of the FCT police command, on April 27, 2024, at about 8:00 p.m., arrested two female suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, in connection to the trafficking of five children.

“The suspects who attempted to escape arrest from Sokoto police operatives were intercepted and arrested by FCT police operatives at Kagini junction, Abuja, while suspiciously conveying five (5) children into the Federal Capital Territory.

“The FCT police command, in the spirit of oneness, have now handed the suspects and victims over to Sokoto state police command for further investigation and onward prosecution”, part of the statement read.

However, in a dramatic twist, detectives at the Sokoto State police command have stripped Ms Dogonyaro of her veil, revealing that she is a serving senior police officer – an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, with AP/No 161651 attached to Kubwa Division of the FCT police command.

It was learnt that Dogonyaro, who is the prime suspect and alleged arrow-head of a syndicate, has been identified by the mothers of the five children recovered from her, as a police officer known to them who had served in Sokoto for almost twenty years.

Sources told Scudnews that the mothers, all widows, were deceived to handover their children under the pretext that their children would be handed over to an Abuja-based Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, to cater for their education and welfare.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that two more children allegedly trafficked by Dogonyaro and her accomplices have been recovered by the police in Sokoto just as detectives are tracking other children said to have been taken to other states.

The police said discreet investigation has led to the arrest of five additional suspects including Mr. Bala Abubakar, a staff of Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, and Mr. Isah Shehu Malami, of the State Social Welfare Department.
