Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh and the Executive Vice Chairman, EVC/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, Mr. Babatunde Irukera, have been relieved of their duties.
A statement by the presidential spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on Monday, President Bola Tinubu has directed the sacked chief executive officers to hand over to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new CEOs.
“In conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Chief Executive Officers”, Ngelale said.
“By this directive of the President, their removal from office takes immediate effect”.
The development came hours after President Tinubu suspended Ms. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation from office.
