The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said, “if you kill Ortom, be ready to bury Nigeria” in his response to the attack on the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom by gunmen while visiting a farm in Makurdi.
The governor was on Saturday, attacked by gunmen, but his security details were able to successfully repel them.
Governor Samuel Ortom, while narrating his ordeal said he “ran for more than one and a half kilometres without stopping” while escaping from the attack location.
According to a statement signed by his spokesman, Kelvin Obiri, the Rivers state governor said, “If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria”.
The Governor had earlier after that attack lamented that the attack came a few days after the leadership of Miyetti Allah, Kautal Hore held a meeting in Yola and singled him out as a thorn in their flesh that must be eliminated.
