2 Killed As Tiv, Fulani Clash In Taraba

Two persons reportedly lost their lives in a clash between Tiv and Fulani settlers at Borno Kurukuru village in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Sources said the deceased were a yet-to be-identified man of Tiv origin and a 30-year-old Fulani, Buhari Umari, who were killed during the fight over ownership of farmland, at about 2.pm. on Monday.

Four others, all Tiv, whose names were given as Thadeus Akundu, aged 30; Titus Akundu, (40), Dominic Tersugh, (27) and 35-year-old Jacob Kwashe, were fatally injured, a witness said.

He said all the injured are Tiv and residents of Borno Kurukuru village.

The state police command said policemen had been drafted to the community to restore normalcy, while the corpses and those injured have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment and autopsy.

It added that the situation has been brought under control and investigation is ongoing.
