Barely two days after a tanker conveying a diesel exploded, killing12 persons and damaging 72 houses in Oshigbudu, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, another tanker laden with petrol has reportedly crashed at the same spot on Tuesday, April 20.
However, no life was lost in the latest incident, but it  was said to have caused wanton destruction of property in the area.
Secretary to Agatu local government council, Mr. Oteyi Sunday, who hails from the community, confirmed the development to our correspondent in Makurdi, the state capital. He said the incident occurred at about 3:40am Tuesday some metres away from the spot where a diesel-laden tanker crashed two days earlier and exploded.
According to him, what would have been a  colossal damage was averted as people deserted the area shortly before the explosion occurred. He added that the conductor of the tanker was arrested as the driver escaped to an unknown location.
As at the time of filing this report, the inferno from the fuel explosion was still raging, a situation that obstructed free flow of traffic on the federal road.
