Green White Green (GWG) Sports Centre Ltd on Monday in Abuja said it has made four new appointments into the board of its Supreme Management Committee (SMC).
Babatunde Adejuwon, the SMC Secretary, disclosed in a statement that GWG appointed three new directors and a Chief Operating Officer (COO).
SMC organises the Higher Institution Sports League (HISL) and Higher Institution Football League (HIFL).
Those appointed are former national team coach James Peters as Director (Technical), Dr Alex Mana as COO, Hadi Adamu as Director (Logistics) and Zephy Okoro as Director (Facilities).
Adejuwon who will serve as the secretary of both the board and SMC said the appointments were in line with the resolutions of the SMC board meeting held during the weekend in Abuja.
“GWG are the rights owners of HISL/HIFL trademark, and it is the desire of GWG to come up with aggregate sports programmes for all higher education institutions. This is to be in a way that suits developmental needs of combining sports with education and providing opportunities for students who are naturally endowed to pursue their academic goals alongside sports careers,” he said.
Adejuwon added that the appointments were geared towards actualising GWG’s search for all encompassing education.
“This is in the area of providing training, entertainment, sports and cultural activities following the acquisition of HISL and HIFL trademark.”
He also stated that further appointments of zonal coordinators and supervisors would be announced in due course.
