Shock and astonishment pervaded Epe Ekiti, a sleepy community in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Monday, June 29, as a stationary truck rolled over and smashed the head of its driver while he was fixing a fault underneath.

The 40-year-old driver identified as Samaila Suleiman, had left his home in the early hours of the ill-fated day as was his daily routine, to ply his trade and generate income to put food on the table for his family.

As he drove his Mercedez Benz 911 truck with registration number Lagos LSD 898 XP en route a river bank at Iropora Ekiti, a town in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, he roamed his mental landscape with high expectation of a fruitful outing.

It turned out to be a misplaced optimism as he did not return home to the warm embrace of members of his family. After a return trip to the river bank where he excavates sand for supply to his clients, reports said the Suleiman heard an unusual sound in the truck and went underneath to trace and fix the fault with the engine running.
