Suspended Nasarawa Council Chairman, Deputy Gets Mercy

Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday pardoned the suspended chairman of Nasarawa Local Government council, Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Ottos and the deputy Chairman, Karu Local Government Council, Lawal Yakubu Karshi over an act of insubordination and told them to resume work forthwith.

Speaker of the Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, announced the lift in suspension of the two Councils Officials after the House deliberated on the report of the seven-man Ad-hoc Committee set up by the Lawmakers to investigate the allegations of insubordination and abused of Office leveled against the Councils Officials.

The speaker said the suspended officials were pardoned due to their acceptance of the offence and their level of remorse when they appeared before the investigative committee, noted that the two officials during their interface with the committee, had apologized to the lawmakers as well as the government of the state.

It was on this ground according to him, the Lawmakers decided to pardon them.

He said the decision of the Legislators to suspend the Councils Officials was not a witch-hunt or to temper with the democratic structure, and said their action was aimed at strengthening the system to serve as deterrent to those who may wish to act the same in future.

Balarabe-Abdullahi, who directed as contained in the committee report, charged the two Officials to send a written letter of apology to the state government. While commending members of the Ad- hoc Committee for thorough work done, the Speaker cautioned public servants in the state to know that they are guarded by Law and avoid any act of insubordination.
